Green Living

Wow!! I can’t believe it’s week 14 of our challenge!  How are things going for you so far this year?  What habits have you changed?  Are you noticing yourself taking out the trash less often? I hope so.

Today we’re going to help you relax and enjoy your home by simplifying!!

I feel like everywhere we look these days there are tips/books/stories about simplicity.  One of my side jobs is working as a personal home organizer.  Every family I work with says the exact same thing “I just want my home to be simple!” When I begin with a new family we have a long list of questions we go through and the heart of everyone I work with is the same- reduce “stuff” and increase family time and productivity.   I believe a large part of this is because we’re so bombarded with information and stimuli in this technological era that we’re striving to find something tranquil and relaxing.

Today I’m going to share some of the steps I might use with my home-organizing clients to help you simplify and live greener!

Step 1- Take a walk through your home and observe what your space looks/ feels like vs. how you would like to look and feel
Step 2- Grab several boxes and go room-by-room eliminating everything in your home that is not the color green or a shade of green.
Step 3- Enjoy living in your green-saturated home. I find that most homes don’t own much that is green so you’re going to have a super simplified home and will eliminate a large amount of potential waste.

I can’t wait to hear how you’re feeling after simplifying your home!  Share in the comments below or email me at blog@keeper.com and tell me all about it- I’d love to see some pictures too!
