Menstrual Cups in Third World Countries

Because both The Keeper and Moon Cup menstrual cups require thorough, frequent cleaning, they are not an ideal feminine hygiene product for women in third world countries or in poorer, remote areas. The two big reasons for this are that many poor, developing communities do not have ready access to clean water and/or soap and that women in these communities sometimes share menstrual cloths. In order to protect the health of women in these communities and support the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, we recommend that girls and women in these communities use other feminine hygiene products that can be disposed of after one use.

Mentsrual cups require a clean place for storage. They also take some time to get used to, so we recommend being in your home bathroom when using the cup for the first time. These steps cannot be followed correctly in unsanitary conditions. Click here for more information about proper use.

While having menstrual cups in third world countries would allow us to reach more women on the planet, we don’t want to push our products at any cost and know what it takes for our customers to feel comfortable using our products.
