Every year we get dozens of Christmas cards.  We enjoy hearing from loved ones, and proudly hang them as part of our decorations.   What’s one to do with all those pretty cards after the Holiday season is over?!  It’s time to pull out the box of cards and make some fun Upcycled DIY projects (plus get ahead on your gift making for next year!). Be kind to the Earth.

  • Keep the fronts to use as postcards for Thank You notes or cards for soldiers, prisoners, or people in nursing homes.
  • Mail cards all year to the St. Jude Recycled Card Program St. Jude’s Ranch for Children recycles your used greeting cards and creates new holiday and all-occasion greeting cards. Recycled cards are sold to support our programs and services for abused, neglected and homeless children, young adults and families
  • Donate to a local school or church (as a former teacher we used to go through hundreds of cards for projects around the Holidays)
  • Cut out images and letters to use for scrapbooks
  • Use the blank side for Jesse Tree ornaments (Printable and how-to from 1+1+1=1 here)
  • Let your children make cards next year with cut outs (Grandparents would go gaga for this!) Here’s a tutorial.
  • Frame some of your favorites and use them as decorations
  • frameart xmas cards
  • Cut into a puzzle to give as a gift to child in your family or a neighbor

  • Make them into a gift box or bag
  • Make a book and attach family photos

  • Make marble magnets to give as gifts next year (The Frugal Girls have a great tutorial here)
