Have you heard the latest news? The Department of Treasury announced that by 2020, a new $10 bill is going to be issued and it will feature a woman. This will be the first time that a woman is featured on paper currency in the United States. It has not yet been confirmed what woman will be featured, but there are certainly numerous women who would be fitting. Some suggestions include:

  1. Frances Perkins, the first woman member of a presidential cabinet.
  2. Jeannete Rankin, the first woman ever elected to Congress in 1916.
  3. Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman elected to Congress, in 1969.
  4. Sandra Day O’Connor, the first female justice on the Supreme Court.
  5. Edith Wharton, the first American woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for her novel, The Age of Innocence, in 1921.
